Since 2013, the Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses (TPAPN) has made several important changes regarding nurses’ rights. TPAPN helps nurses who are struggling with substance abuse or psychiatric disorders and who do not wish to have these issues recorded on their permanent record by the Texas Board of Nursing. Additionally, TPAPN helps nurses recover from their addiction using a peer accountability program. Nurses in need of assistance can contact TPAPN on a voluntary basis and their case will remain confidential.
